Dr. Neil Hollyfield is a partner and oral surgeon at Sukle, Hollyfield, Abbott, & Perkins DDS Ltd., a private dentistry practice with four offices in and around Marion, Virginia. Nancy Hollyfield, a certified public accountant, is chief executive officer and manager of Mountain Empire Federal Credit Union in Marion.
Dr. Hollyfield earned his bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State College in 1973. Four years later, he received his doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, where as a student he served as class president and was a member of the Student Dental Association. Dr. Hollyfield completed his general practice residency at Eastman Dental Center and the Genesee Hospital in 1978. He then served a three-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University. Dr. Hollyfield was certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1983 and established his private practice as an oral surgeon.
Mrs. Hollyfield graduated from Hood College in 1971 and received her master’s degree from Northwestern University one year later. She was manager of education and training for Blue Ridge Job Corps prior to joining Mountain Empire Credit Union in 2000. Mrs. Hollyfield was appointed to serve on the board of directors for the Virginia Credit Union League in 2012.
Dr. and Mrs. Hollyfield have been devoted advocates and supporters of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health for many years. The couple have generously contributed to the Stanley L. Handelman Fellowship Fund in honor of Dr. Hollyfield’s longtime colleague, friend, and mentor. The Hollyfields are members of the George Eastman Circle, the University’s leadership annual giving society.
Dr. Hollyfield is a member of the American Dental Association and the Virginia Dental Association. Active in his local community, he is treasurer and secretary of Crossroads Homeless Shelter, Inc.
