Established in 2008, the Dean’s Medal recognizes extraordinary service, philanthropy, and leadership to the school, and dedication and commitment that inspire others to take leadership roles at the University. Individuals, families, associations, corporations, or foundations may be recognized. It is among the highest honors given by the school.
For nearly four decades, Richard T. Aab has been guided by his passion for business, and today, he remains a widely admired international entrepreneur responsible for the creation of 15 companies. He has achieved success in industries ranging from telecommunications to payroll to innovative design and development, and his visionary leadership has resulted in a long list of accomplishments including the acquisition of several companies by industry giants like AT&T and Windstream Corp, the creation of thousands of jobs, and significant wealth for his employees and shareholders. Currently the CEO of four start-up companies, his innovative spirit continues to shape the ever-evolving entrepreneurial landscape. As an advocate for our University and its medical center, he exhibits the same zeal for his philanthropy. An active University trustee and board member of the University of Rochester Medical Center, he is a passionate spokesperson on behalf of medical research and has generously supported institutions like Strong Memorial Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and the School of Medicine and Dentistry. Today, the Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute is a lasting tribute to his leadership support and commitment to the Institute and its mission. In recognition of his longstanding support and indelible contributions to our University, it is with heartfelt gratitude and deep affection that this honor is bestowed.
